‘A masterpiece that is the very embodiment of the BUGATTI Sur Mesure program.’ That perhaps is the best way to describe the CHIRON Super Sport ‘Golden Era’, a car that is actually highly personal work of art, bringing a story to life and a creative customer vision to fulfilment.

It took the BUGATTI design team two years to set up and develop the process of how to hand-draw 45 intricate sketches of the brand’s timeless icons in more than 400 hours onto the body of this unique CHIRON Super Sport.

After the ‘Golden’ Era theme, color and icons had been defined, owner and design team agreed to apply the drawings in a visual style that resembles a pencil sketched on paper. To produce the same effect as on paper, the designers first tried to work with pencils they use to sketch a new BUGATTI hyper sports car.

A first implementation however revealed the drawings were prone to smudging and the clear-coat would crack when applied over the sketches. Thus the designers and paint team continued to explore a new technique as per which the team would draw one car sketch after the other directly on the body, sand each of them and coat them up to four times, creating a masterpiece of genuine contrast no matter of the light conditions with a three-dimensional sense of foreground and background.

When the owner visited the designers to see the first sketches after their completion, he was literally overwhelmed by the effect.
